Two years into World War One Britain took part in an offensive along the Western Front at the Somme in France. On the first day of battle 57,000 men lost their lives and by the end of the battle, only 8km of land had been gained. Could this be considered a success or a failure? Who was to blame, if anyone for the death of all these men?
Lesson 8: The Versailles Peace Treaty!
The war ended in November 1918 and the leaders of the winning nations met at Versailles in January 1919 to sort out a post war peace treaty which prevent another world war happening ever again! This lesson we will be creating our own peace treaty and deciding how Germany should be dealt with after WW1.
