This unit we will be learning about empires and how they rise and fall and the impact they had on different parts of the world.
To the left you will be able to read the aims of this unit as well as the key worlds we will be using. You should have one of these stuck in your books and have filled in the student parts. |

Lesson 2: Aztec life
You will be learning about who the Aztecs were and in lessons to come what the Spanish gained from taking over their lands. PPT provided by www.tes.co.uk

Find out about the different European Empires! 1600-1900 Use the sheets provided to colour in where different countries ruled at different points over the 300 year period. You need to make sure you colour each country a different colour and stick to this so you can see changes and continuity.

You need to finish the sheet given in class showing the slave triangle and answer the following question: What was the middle passage and why did it have that name? Lesson 4: The middle passage

Use the sources from the above resources and the film watched in class to write a diary of a slave that has just arrived in the Americas after experiencing the middle passage. Write / type it neatly on paper ready to put on a display. Lesson 7: Why was slavery abolished?

Lesson one!

When they got to the Americas slaves were removed from the ships and sold as if they were possessions.

You are going to produce a slave auction poster based on what you have learnt and information on the PPT shown in class. (see above). You will need to include: - what you are selling - how people can tell they are of the highest quality - the sorts of work they can provide - other items you need to advertise - where the auction will take place - what type of auction it is Lesson 6: What was it like to live and work on a plantation?

Use the PPT below to complete the tasks outlined as well as the sheets provided. Homework: Due Wednesday 30th April Complete the tasks and the write up from the lesson (see slide below with task - Alex :). These can be typed or written but must not be given on a memory stick. There are extra primary sources in the form of runaway slave posters that can be used to obtain more information.
